Southend’s Annual Closed Championships were again held at the Rayleigh Leisure Centre and there were 104 entrants.

The Championships was organised by Jayne Johnson, Ken Field & Lou Hopkins and they received the full support of the Executive Committee and many players.

All agreed they were a very successful Championships.

TT-on-Sea are all revved up for Tilson

SOUTHEND United manager Steve Tilson has helped TT on Sea celebrate a long list of table tennis achievements.

The club, whose players range between eight and 15 years of age, have only been running for two seasons.

But they have already enjoyed a number of memorable moments.

The youngsters finished a close third in the Southend Table Tennis League and received a special one-off award for their dedication to junior table tennis.

They have also been awarded the Premier Club status from Clubmark and finished second and third in a national competition.
