Magnificent Table Tennis Exhibition in the Warehouse Centre
Even in a hot and sunny Saturday the Warehouse Centre in Rayleigh was packed with young table tennis enthusiasts, members of the Southend League and other parents who were showing the first interest on their kids future on the table tennis sport.
This table tennis exhibition was organised by Kevin Read and the Rochford Council and was represented by two of the England Senior Teams: Andrew Rushton and Natalie Bawden and the Former England Schoolboy International, Alex Green.
Andrew Rushton is currently 4th in the England Ranking, Commonwealth Team Silver Medallist in 2002, Commonwealth Mens Doubles Silver Medallist in 2006 and has played as a professional player in Germany, Sweden and France. Natalie Bawden is currently member of the England's Women Senior Team who played recently in the Commonwealth Games in Australia and the World Championship Teams Winner in the Bath Grand Prix. Alex Green plays for Barnet TT Club in the Premier Division of the British League and is currently working as a full time coach for the TTK Greenhouse Project in London.
The trio displayed an excellent show to the audience, they touched every aspect of table tennis training techniques and all the steps that the young table tennis players should follow to become good champions.
Andrew, Alex and Natalie in the TT Exhibition
There were some fast backhand to backhand, forehand to forehand and mixed drills perfectly executed by the trio followed by some amazing rallies in real matches between them. We were kept interacted all the time by the England Senior Players who after the exhibition offered free coaching as well to the young table tennis players. Everyone enjoyed the exhibition and the training.
We need more of these exhibitions, more training and coaching venues and we definitely need coaches or professional players in our TT Leagues to work more with the youth teams. There is a good example and a very hard work that Andy and Dave Nunn have done with their young talented players for the Rawreth TT Club. All the other clubs should create the same training facilities for our future champions. Have your say on this issue.
