The Goodies at the Ilfracombe House Hotel - 31 March 2007

The Goodies are back in stage again, this time at the Palace Theatre in Westcliff  on Sunday 1st April 2007. They made us laugh for more than one decade and now the Goodies are back to make us smile once more. Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graeme Garden are recreating the mayhem of their Seventies show with a national tour.

The Goodies Still Rule OK is a look back over the years the pair spent alongside Bill Oddie making people laugh with their sketches and slapstick. Due to other commitments, Bill Oddie can't be live on stage, but will joining his co-stars by beaming his performance to the Westcliff Theatre via digital technology.

They're staying at the 4 star hotel in Southend -the Ilfracombe House on Sunday night and the show will be played in the Palace Theatre in Westcliff on April 1, 8pm. Tickets cost £19.50, £18.50 and £15.50. Call Palace Theatre for tickets on 01702351135.

CAMELIA HOTEL - SOUTHEND ON SEA SEAFRONT

Anonymous (Mature couple) on 2006-07-19
Rated 4 out of 5
"It was very clean and new but it could have done with a small table in the lounge area as you had nowhere to put a cup of tea. People will put drinks and food on the lovely beige carpet and that would be a shame as it would mark it."
Thumbs Up Polite staff, clean accommodation, food good,
Thumbs Down Nothing...

Best of English Restaurants in Southend - 23 October 2006

My Rating:

There are so many Restaurants in Southend Seafront and Hamlet Court Road but most of them aren't English. We were looking for a stake and in the hotel they had plenty of Chinesse, Italian, Indian and other restaurant's menus but not English. Hey, what's going on? When we asked for an English restaurant that does good English stakes they struggled a bit to find one but in the end they reccommended us the "Farthings" Restaurant in Southchurch Road, Southend.  We had a lovely time, food was excellent, marvellous English dishes including fish and poltry dishes. Cost: 2 meal course for something between £8-15, good wines too.

Stayed at the Westcliff Hotel in Southend.

Camelia Hotel in Southend - 23 October 2006
Philip from Portsmouth , United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) on 2006-07-18
Rated 4.29 out of 5
"The Camelia Hotel is a small, family run hotel, right on the sea front but far enough away from the night life of Southend not to be affected by it. It took us about fifteen minutes to walk to the busy part of Southend. It's worth paying the extra ten pounds for an 'executive room', as you get a sea view. It also has a nice restaurant. Overall, clean, comfortable, large carpark and well situated. If staying in Southend again we would stay at the Camelia."
Thumbs Up The room was very pleasant, clean and well decorated.
Thumbs Down The mattress has seen better days.....
